Softball Recap: Woodward Academy Comes Up Short

Woodward Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Atlanta Warriors. The War Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in October of 2023.

Cymone Woodfaulk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Maya Hatch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Cavanaugh, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Woodward Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for North Atlanta, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Woodward Academy will face off against Westminster at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Atlanta, they will venture away from home to take on St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
