Basketball Recap: Ygnacio Valley Takes a Loss

Ygnacio Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 70-54 bruising from the Benicia Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 820th, while the Panthers are ranked 359th).

Despite the loss, Ygnacio Valley still got an impressive performance from Sa'Rye Starks, who almost dropped a double-double with 41 points and nine steals. That was a full 75.9% of Ygnacio Valley's points, marking the 16th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Te'Aujanae Hill was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards.

Ygnacio Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Benicia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.

Ygnacio Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Benicia, they have already played their next game, a 71-44 victory against Berean Christian on the 11th.
