Basketball Game Preview: West Allegheny Indians vs. Moon Area Tigers

The West Allegheny Indians will challenge the Moon Area Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in West Allegheny's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

West Allegheny will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Montour, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. West Allegheny strolled past Montour with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 55-38. The Indians pushed the score to 45-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moon Area, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Mars by a score of 51-43 on Monday.

Moon Area has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for West Allegheny, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-3.

West Allegheny came out on top in a nail-biter against Moon Area in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 52-50. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Moon Area's Jaedin Griggs, who posted 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will West Allegheny still be able to contain Griggs? There's only one way to find out.
