Basketball Recap: Weston Ranch Falls Despite Big Games from Lila Harper and Ja'naysha Green

Weston Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 35-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johansen Vikings. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 11-4 in the first quarter.

Weston Ranch's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ja'Naysha Green, who posted 17 points and eight steals, and Lila Harper, who put up eight points along with 20 rebounds and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Green a new career-high in points.

Johansen's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Ibanez-Soto, who had 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danna Singh, who posted nine points.

Weston Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Johansen, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Weston Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-35 loss against Sacramento on the 30th. As for Johansen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 32-24 defeat against Downey on the 27th.
