Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Elliott Acree and River Deisher Lead Mt. Carmel to Victory

Mt. Carmel won the last time they faced Newton and things went their way on Friday too. The Golden Aces blew past the Eagles 32-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Golden Aces' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Eagles are ranked 415th).

Leading Mt. Carmel to victory were River Deisher and Elliott Acree. Deisher rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, while Acree rushed for 112 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mt. Carmel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 392 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Carmel and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Newton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
