Basketball Recap: Yreka Victorious

After losing to Anderson the last time they met, Yreka decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Yreka Miners snuck past the Anderson Cubs with a 57-51 victory on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Taylor Ford and Renna Shriner certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ford dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, while Shriner dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Ford is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilah Armstrong, who posted three points along with seven assists and five boards.

The win got Yreka back to even at 14-14. As for Anderson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Yreka will host Gridley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anderson, they and Lassen will meet on Tuesday for a tough Bear Battle.
