Softball Recap: Libby Loggers vs. Whitefish Bulldogs
Libby was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Whitefish on Thursday. The Loggers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Loggers have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Carmen Kohler looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Madison Vincent and Bently Houston did most of the damage at the plate: Vincent went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Houston went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Tessa Purdy also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Libby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .733. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Libby has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Whitefish, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Libby will square off against Polson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Whitefish, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 21-7 win against Browning on the 2nd.
