Football Recap: Widefield Comes Up Short

Widefield fell victim to Air Academy and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Kadets 42-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gladiators of the 44-19 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Air Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Schlichter, who rushed for 86 yards and three TDs. The Kadets also got a significant boost from Cade Ballard, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Widefield now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Air Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Widefield will head out to face off against Sand Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gladiators will need to watch out since the Scorpions have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Air Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Standley Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
