Softball Recap: Humboldt Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Humboldt took on Gilbert on Friday. The Wildcats came up short against the Tigers, falling 8-2. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in June of 2024.

Humboldt's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Gilbert, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Humboldt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-3 defeat against Estherville Lincoln Central on the 21st. As for Gilbert, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-2 loss against Mt. Vernon on the 21st.
