Basketball Game Preview: Oakdale Mustangs vs. Calaveras Red Hawks

The Oakdale Mustangs and the Calaveras Red Hawks will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Oakdale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Buhach Colony to the tune of 51-15 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, everything went Calaveras' way against Weston Ranch on Thursday as Calaveras made off with a 58-32 win. The Red Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Calaveras' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Oakdale, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Oakdale lost to Calaveras on the road by a decisive 44-30 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2016. Can Oakdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
