Basketball Recap: Jay Bullock's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Samueli Academy over Capistrano Valley Christian

Samueli Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 36-25 to the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles. The Firewolves lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-10 score last time.

Several Firewolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jay Bullock, who posted nine points. The dominant performance gave Bullock a new career-high in points. Kennedy Cortez was another key player, putting up seven points.

Samueli Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6.

Samueli Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-28 defeat against The Webb Schools on the 23rd. Capistrano Valley Christian has also already played their next game, a 33-21 win against Newport Christian on the 23rd.
