Soccer Game Preview: Berkeley vs. Piedmont

The Berkeley Yellowjackets will challenge the Piedmont Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Berkeley is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Bishop O'Dowd on Wednesday. Berkeley fell just short of Bishop O'Dowd by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Dragons are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Piedmont kept a clean sheet against Encinal on Wednesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Jets. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Highlanders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Berkeley's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1-2 and their overall record down to 4-7-4. As for Piedmont, their win bumped their record up to 5-6-2.
