Basketball Recap: Fairmont Prep's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Fairmont Prep and Windward squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Fairmont Prep had to settle for second. They came up short against the Windward Wildcats, falling 79-55. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 69-65.

Fairmont Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Maria Mejia, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 18 points along with six assists and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Aldeguer, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Fairmont Prep's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-11. As for Windward, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Fairmont Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Windward, they will challenge Sage Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Windward knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Sage Hill likes a good challenge.
