Football Recap: Garden City Takes a Loss

Garden City lost against Liberal back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buffaloes fell 39-32 to the Redskins. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

A big part of Liberal's victory came down to the chemistry between Tevin Cotter and his top target James Fieser. Cotter threw for 384 yards and five TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes while Fieser picked up 226 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Fieser is now averaging an impressive 108.2 receiving yards per game. Xavier Tafoya helped Cotter out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and one score, while also picking up 30 receiving yards.

Garden City's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Liberal, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garden City will face off against Southeast on Friday. As for Liberal, they will challenge Great Bend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed ten points per game this season, so the Redskins' offense will have their work cut out for them.
