Softball Recap: Sumter County Comes Up Short

Shaw hit Sumter County with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 14-5 to the Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-0 loss on September 4th.

Isis Snipes and Kamiyah Barron did some serious damage despite the final result: Snipes went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Barron got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Snipes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Candace Pitts, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Sumter County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Shaw, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sumter County will square off against Carver at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shaw, they will face off against Taylor County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
