Preview: Midd-West Mustangs vs. East Juniata Tigers
Midd-West has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the East Juniata Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Wednesday, Midd-West was beaten by Greenwood 49-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Midd-West in their matchups with Greenwood: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, East Juniata's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 46-12 defeat at the hands of Susquenita. While losing is never fun, East Juniata can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while Susquenita is ranked 286th).
Midd-West dropped their record down to 1-20 with that loss, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for East Juniata, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Midd-West came up short against East Juniata in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 31-21. Can Midd-West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
