Basketball Game Preview: Beaumont Cougars vs. Moreno Valley Vikings

The Beaumont Cougars just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Moreno Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Beaumont took on Redlands East Valley on Thursday. Beaumont blew past Redlands East Valley, posting a 75-46 win. 75 seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moreno Valley). They blew past Paloma Valley 86-20 on Thursday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Wildcats are ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Moreno Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Beaumont, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Beaumont suffered a grim 62-42 defeat to Moreno Valley in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Beaumont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
