Basketball Recap: Burroughs' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Burroughs had won two straight games and Isabella Amayakyan did her part to make it three on Friday. The Burroughs Bears claimed a resounding 70-28 win over the Sherman Oaks CES Knights thanks in part to Amayakyan, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points along with seven boards and five assists. Those seven boards gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Polina Gorgeiz, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Burroughs' victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Sherman Oaks CES, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-1.

Burroughs and Sherman Oaks CES should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Burroughs (ranked 155th) will meet Bishop Alemany (ranked 390th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Sherman Oaks CES (ranked 248th) will meet Lakeview Charter (ranked 573rd) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
