Soccer Game Preview: Saint Mary's vs. Berean Christian

The Saint Mary's Panthers will square off against the Berean Christian Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Saint Mary's is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Kelseyville get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven contests by four goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Kelseyville from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Brianna Coyle led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Berean Christian entered their tilt with Rancho Cotate on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cougars.

Saint Mary's pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five games. As for Berean Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.

Saint Mary's skirted past Berean Christian 2-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saint Mary's since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
