Basketball Recap: Rosary Academy Comes Up Short

Rosary Academy played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Sage Hill Lightning, falling 63-37. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Lightning are ranked 20th).

Sage Hill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amalia Holguin, who posted 11 points along with five assists and four steals. Holguin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Uphoff, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Rosary Academy and nudges their season record down to 12-12. As for Sage Hill, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Rosary Academy has already played their next contest, a 56-40 defeat against St. Margaret's on the 31st. As for Sage Hill, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-56 loss against Rialto on the 1st.
