Basketball Preview: Lower Moreland Lions vs. Upper Dublin Cardinals

The Lower Moreland Lions will head out on the road to take on the Upper Dublin Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lower Moreland comes in on three and the Cardinals on eight.

Last Friday, Lower Moreland didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Spartans, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win. Given Lower Moreland's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Spartans are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Briana Mcferran and Dani Brusha were among the main playmakers for Lower Moreland as the former scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Brusha is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Broderick, who scored nine points.

In what's become a running theme this season, Upper Dublin gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 65-28 victory over Plymouth Whitemarsh.

Lower Moreland's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Upper Dublin, their win bumped their record up to 19-1.

Lower Moreland took a serious blow against the Cardinals when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 49-22. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lower Moreland was down 33-9.
