Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Rock Canyon's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Rock Canyon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Douglas County on Wednesday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kennedi Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Avery Cochran was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Lucy Longmire, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Rock Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Douglas County, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Rock Canyon nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
