Football Recap: Mission Piles Up the Points Against Rio Grande City

There's no place like home for Mission, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-14 victory over the Rio Grande City Rattlers. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-6.

Mission had a senior duo take command as Alejandro Cano threw for 307 yards and four TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes and Shelby Sital picked up 163 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Sital really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards. James Delgado was another key player, rushing for 80 yards and a pair of scores.

Mission's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Rio Grande City, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mission will face off against rival Rowe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rio Grande City is set to challenge their familiar foe McAllen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
