Baseball Recap: Carmel Victorious

Carmel's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Fenwick Friars 13-11.

Josh Ouimette was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Ouimette was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs. He has become a key player for Carmel: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 10-20 otherwise.

In other batting news, Michael Haran was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Cameron Nero also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Carmel's win bumped their record up to 14-21. As for Fenwick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 19 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-20 record this season.

Carmel is taking a road trip to take on Vernon Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Fenwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
