Softball Recap: West Lyon Triumphs

Akron-Westfield typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday West Lyon proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Westerners. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 last Saturday.

The victory made it two in a row for West Lyon and bumps their season record up to 23-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Akron-Westfield, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lyon will square off against MOC-Floyd Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dutchmen's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Akron-Westfield, they will challenge George-Little Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Westerners are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
