Nick Gilbrook made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ben Elsey, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, The King's Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Loganville Christian Academy on Friday. The Knights put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Russell Seney was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Hayden Beasley was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and three doubles.
The King's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Dominion Christian pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for The King's Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Dominion Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like The King's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts.
