Baseball Game Preview: Smith Vo-Tech Vikings vs. Northampton Blue Devils

The Smith Vo-Tech Vikings will face off against the Northampton Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Smith Vo-Tech will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Smith Vo-Tech and St. Mary, and Smith Vo-Tech kept the tradition alive. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Saints 4-3 on Wednesday.

Kaleb Jorritsma was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Jorritsma was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two runs. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Logan Brothers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in March, Northampton was forced to settle for a tie on Friday. They and Hampshire Regional finished up on equal footing with a 7-7 draw.

The win got Smith Vo-Tech back to even at 8-8. Northampton's tie makes their record 5-11-2 this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Smith Vo-Tech has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northampton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
