Baseball Recap: Villa Rica Takes a Loss

Villa Rica and Brunswick squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Villa Rica had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 7-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 on Wednesday.

This is the second loss in a row for Villa Rica and nudges their season record down to 24-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Brunswick, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

While Villa Rica had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
