Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Vikings vs. Arcata Tigers

The Pleasant Valley Vikings will challenge the Arcata Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pleasant Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Pleasant Valley picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They put the hurt on Hart with a sharp 56-34 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Nyah Fortune went supernova for Pleasant Valley, going 7 of 17 en route to 17 points and six rebounds. Fortune has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Dunn, who posted four points and 17 rebounds.

Pleasant Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Arcata was able to grind out a solid win over Lick-Wilmerding on Monday, taking the game 57-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Arcata.

Arcata has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Pleasant Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.

Everything came up roses for Pleasant Valley against Arcata in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, as the squad secured a 66-39 win. Does Pleasant Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Arcata turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
