Baseball Recap: Georgia School for Innovation & Classics Gets the Win

While Georgia School for Innovation & Classics didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Johnson County Trojans by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Tyler Crapps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Watkins, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Ja'Fonzo Spivey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Georgia School for Innovation & Classics and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Johnson County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Georgia School for Innovation & Classics will have a chance to go back-to-back against Johnson County: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
