Baseball Game Preview: Oconto Blue Devils vs. Kiel Raiders

The Oconto Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Kiel Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Oconto sitting on three straight victories and Kiel on 18 (dating back to last season).

Oconto took an eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Oconto Falls, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since April 28th.

Davis Knoll made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Knoll wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jameson Lassanke, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Oconto hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Kiel had just enough and edged out Brillion 8-6 on Thursday.

Logan Guzman was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Oconto's record is now 14-8. As for Kiel, their record now sits at 17-0.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oconto has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kiel struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
