Basketball Game Preview: Calistoga Wildcats vs. Credo Gryphon

Calistoga and Credo are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Calistoga Wildcats will be playing at home against the Credo Gryphon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Calistoga has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Credo will arrive with three straight wins.

On Friday, Calistoga ended up a good deal behind Willits and lost 39-22. The Wildcats were down 31-11 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Credo over Roseland Collegiate Prep in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Credo blew Roseland Collegiate Prep out of the water with a 50-19 final score. The Gryphon have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Calistoga better focus on containing Maya Leach and Reilly Fay as the pair were huge in Credo's win. Leach posted 18 points, while Fay scored 14 points.

Credo is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.1 points per game. As for Calistoga, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Calistoga barely slipped by Credo in their previous meeting back in January, winning 30-29. Will Calistoga repeat their success, or does Credo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
