Baseball Recap: Cherokee Bluff Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cherokee Bluff waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the East Hall Vikings as they made off with a 15-1 victory. Considering the Bears have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Robinson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cherokee Bluff let Cody Bridger and Landon Kemp run wild. Bridger went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Kemp went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Kemp has become a key player for Cherokee Bluff: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Garrett Harper was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Cherokee Bluff's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for East Hall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cherokee Bluff beat East Hall by a score of 16-0 later that day.
