Basketball Recap: Azaria Nelson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Napa Christian

There's no place like home for Rio Lindo Adventist, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Napa Christian Knights by a score of 41-31 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Rio Lindo Adventist got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Azaria Nelson out in front who posted 12 points and three steals. Nelson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Sascha Norman was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Rio Lindo Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Rio Lindo Adventist pushed their record up to 6-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points per game. As for Napa Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Rio Lindo Adventist will look to defend their home court on Thursday against North Hills Christian at 5:30 p.m. North Hills Christian's defense has only allowed 25.7 points per game this season, so Rio Lindo Adventist's offense will have their work cut out for them. Napa Christian has already played their next contest (against Trinity Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
