Lincoln is 8-2 against Westerville Central since August of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will welcome the Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Lincoln's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Westerville Central has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Friday, Lincoln got the win against New Albany by a conclusive 38-14. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Lincoln got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Grey Kegley out in front who threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. The Lions' leading receiver Marki Wallace was Kegley's top target yet again, picking up 151 receiving yards and one score.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Westerville Central and Grove City, and Westerville Central kept the tradition alive. The Warhawks had just enough and edged out the Greyhounds 21-19.
Westerville Central's win came from a few key players Lincoln will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Omar Bangura, who picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 53 yards. Kevinking Fokuo was another key back, rushing for 81 yards and one touchdown.
Westerville Central's defense made their presence known, laying out Carson Welsh four times. Grove City's QB won't forget Gregory Woods anytime soon given he sacked him 3.5 times. Woods has become a key player for Westerville Central: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two sacks, but 1-3 otherwise.
Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Westerville Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Lincoln has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 355.3 total yards per game. It's a different story for Westerville Central, though, as they've been averaging only 214.4 total yards. Will Lincoln be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Warhawks flip the script?
