Softball Recap: Mountain Vista Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Mountain Vista's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Castle View Sabercats an 11-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Shelby Chesser made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Chesser was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rachel West and Lily Oss did most of the damage at the plate: West went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Oss went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave West a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Pettersen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Mountain Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mountain Vista has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Castle View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Mountain Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-5 victory against ThunderRidge on the 30th. As for Castle View, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-6 win against Douglas County on the 30th.
