Football Game Preview: Archbishop Mitty Monarchs vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish + Official Tickets

The Archbishop Mitty Monarchs will challenge the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Archbishop Mitty is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Saint Francis just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 20-19 to the Lancers. While the Monarchs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lancers 13-0 in the first quarter.

Defeat or not, Archbishop Mitty got some senior leadership from Lazaro Faraj-Washington and Joseph Engin. Faraj-Washington rushed for 124 yards and one TD, while Engin threw for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Faraj-Washington is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 108 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's game on Saturday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost 34-14 to Junipero Serra. While losing is never fun, the Fightin' Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Padres are ranked 24th).

Although Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory took the loss, they still got scores from Germaine Powell and Zion Secrease.

Archbishop Mitty's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
