Softball Recap: Lakeview Has No Trouble Against Lincoln Northwest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeview). They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Lincoln Northwest Falcons on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Vikings' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Cali Bentz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Glendy was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Taylor was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Lakeview back to even at 2-2. As for Lincoln Northwest, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeview will square off against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln Northwest, they will face off against Blair at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
