Basketball Recap: Aubrey Dimapasok Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lucerne Valley

University Prep won the last time they faced Lucerne Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Jaguars secured a 36-30 W over the Mustangs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrey Dimapasok, who posted 13 points. Peace Adewumi was another key player, putting up 11 points.

When it comes to explaining why Lucerne Valley lost, don't look at Yoselin Trujillo. Despite the final result, she shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Trujillo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Lynsey Johnson also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

University Prep pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points on average over those games. As for Lucerne Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

University Prep and Lucerne Valley will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Jaguars are set to square off against their familiar foe Riverside Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lucerne Valley will face off against rival Summit Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
