Recap: Shade Panthers vs. Ferndale Yellow Jackets
This season hasn't been kind to the Shade Panthers, who are still winless after their 13th game. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ferndale on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Shade of the 62-30 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Ferndale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abby Barley out in front who scored 11 points along with six steals. Barley hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Deajah Chatman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Shade dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.9 points per game. As for Ferndale, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shade's road trip will continue as they head out to face Conemaugh Valley at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. As for Ferndale, they will face off against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Turkeyfoot Valley Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday.
