Softball Recap: Davenport North Takes a Loss

If Davenport North was riding high fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Waterloo East on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell 8-5 to the Northeast Rebels on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Davenport North and nudges their season record down to 8-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Northeast, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Davenport North has already played their next match (against Louisa-Muscatine), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Lisbon on the 18th.
