Preview: Mt. Pleasant Cardinals vs. Harbor Pirates
The Mt. Pleasant Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Harbor Pirates at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Pleasant has four straight wins, Harbor has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mt. Pleasant scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 64-23 victory over San Jose at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Mt. Pleasant has managed all season.
Snowe DeLeon continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mt. Pleasant's points. Destinee Townes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Harbor suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 51-24 loss at the hands of Aptos. While losing is never fun, Harbor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1092nd, while Aptos is ranked 487th).
Despite the loss, Harbor saw an underclassman step up: Lily Defelice scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Defelice has scored all season.
Mt. Pleasant's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Harbor, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-11.
