Softball Recap: Bishop McGuinness Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Noble, Bishop McGuinness was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Santa Fe South Saints a 9-0 shutout. The Fighting Irish not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 19, 2024 (when they won 16-1).

Mila Breslin - 2029 made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Breslin - 2029 was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Mya Madu - 2027 was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Molly Milligan - 2027 was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bishop McGuinness always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .909. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Fe South only posted an OBP of .167.

The victory got Bishop McGuinness back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Bishop McGuinness and Santa Fe South will both be playing Midwest City the next time they take the field. The Fighting Irish will host the Bombers at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, while the Saints will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
