High school football rankings: Rigby finishes No. 1 in final Idaho MaxPreps Top 25

Trojans capture third state title in four years.

The high school football season in Idaho came to a close over the weekend with champions crowned at multiple sites. Rigby was among the victors, beating Meridian 28-21 in the Class 5A title game. That victory helped propel the Trojans to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.

Under head coach Armando Gonzalez, Rigby (12-2) captured its third state title in four years. The Trojans have compiled a 45-5 record over that span. Against Meridian in the championship game, they needed a 21-point fourth quarter to come from behind for a dramatic win.

Class 4A champion Skyline (Idaho Falls) finished No. 5, winning its third consecutive title, fifth in the last seven years and ninth going back to 1985.
