Soccer Game Preview: Holy Name vs. Trinity

Holy Name is a perfect 3-0 against Trinity since August of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Green Wave are taking a road trip to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Holy Name's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Holy Name's offense. They came up short against Padua Franciscan on Tuesday, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Holy Name can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 439th, while Padua Franciscan are ranked 65th).

Meanwhile, Trinity hadn't done well against Wickliffe recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Trojans never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Trinity's winning goal came courtesy of Jonathan Rosa.

Trinity's win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 6-7-1. As for Holy Name, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10-3.

Everything went Holy Name's way against Trinity when the teams last played back in August of 2019, as Holy Name made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
