Football Recap: Bonner Springs Comes Up Short

Bonner Springs extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They took a blow against the Tonganoxie Chieftains, falling 42-0. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 45-0 to the Chieftains when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Tonganoxie, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. That looming 42-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Tonganoxie found their leader in sophomore Bodee Maslak, who rushed for 71 yards and one TD on only six carries, and also threw for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes.

Looking ahead, Bonner Springs is taking a road trip to take on Ottawa on Friday. As for Tonganoxie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Basehor-Linwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
