Baseball Game Preview: Westside Patriots vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs

The Westside Patriots will head out to face off against the Silver Bluff Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Westside took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Hephzibah by a score of 6-3.

Chase Burley was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Westside's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Silver Bluff didn't have quite enough to beat Swansea on Tuesday and fell 6-5.

AJ Fontanez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Tanner Sullivan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Silver Bluff's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Westside, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Silver Bluff's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Westside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. It's a different story for Silver Bluff, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain Westside's hitters?

Westside skirted past Silver Bluff 9-7 in their previous meeting on Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westside since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
