Football Game Preview: Vidor Pirates vs. Liberty Panthers

The Vidor Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Liberty Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vidor comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Friday, Vidor lost to Lumberton at home by a 42-28 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly 14 points.

Meanwhile, Liberty had to suffer through a 52-7 loss at the hands of Little Cypress-Mauriceville. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 779th, while the Bears are ranked 388th).

Vidor's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Vidor against Liberty in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
