Basketball Recap: Michaela Ellsmore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ferndale over Mckinleyville

Ferndale came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the McKinleyville Panthers by a score of 36-34 on Saturday. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Ferndale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Michaela Ellsmore, who posted nine points. Gianna Regli was another key player, putting up eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for Ferndale and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for McKinleyville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Ferndale will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoopa Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for McKinleyville, they will face off against Fortuna at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
