Softball Recap: Turner County Comes Up Short

Turner County extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-16. They lost 15-0 to the Lanier County Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in August.

As for Lanier County, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season.

For Lanier County's part, Brilee Burkhalter was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Evie Murray also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Looking ahead, Turner County will head out on the road to square off against Fitzgerald at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Purple Hurricane have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.78 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lanier County, they will be playing at home against Clinch County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season.
